Entering Bhutan, we will be greeted by the scenic Himalayan views where the majestic peaks shimmer with the beautiful rays of sunlight.
Arriving at Paro – the gateway to Bhutan - we will be received by a Zion Treks representative and then begin our extraordinary journey to the heart of Bhutan – Thimphu. En route, we will stop at Chuzom, located at the confluence of the Paro and Thimpu rivers. Three distinct Buddhist stupas lie in the spot, each built in the Nepalese, Tibetan, and Bhutanese styles, signifying the three Buddhist traditions and the strong bond among the Himalayan countries.
En route, we will also see the historic Tamchog Lhakhang (The Temple of the Excellent Horse), built in the 15th century by the renowned Tibetan saint Thangtong Gyalpo.
Upon arrival in Thimpu, we will explore the local market and the Crafts Bazaar to browse Bhutan’s finest traditional arts, including hand-woven textiles, Thangka paintings, masks, ceramics, and more.

National Library and Institute for Zorig Chusum: Housing an extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts and Bhutan’s traditional arts and crafts, the library is Bhutan’s cultural and intellectual institution, preserving the nation’s rich literary and spiritual heritage. Textile Museum: Representing the artistic traditions and living heritage of Bhutan, the museum showcases traditional textiles woven from Silk, cotton, and wool using local techniques into exquisite, intricate pieces of art. Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang): Perched on the hilltop, the iconic landmark overlooks the Thimpu valley with a 51.5-foot Buddha statue surrounded by a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. King's Memorial Chorten: Built in 1974, the Tibetan-style stupa is a memorial to King Jigme Dorje Wangchuk – the father of Modern Bhutan - and is dedicated to the peace, prosperity, and well-being of all beings. Tashichho Dzong: The 16th-century fortress is an important landmark of Bhutan, which houses the office of the king of Bhutan and the seat of the central monastic body led by the Chief Abbot.

Following the scenic highway, we will return to the gateway of Bhutan. En route, we will visit:
Simtokha Dzong: One of the oldest fortresses in Bhutan, the Dzong is regarded as the country's first, and it marks Bhutan’s unique fortress-monastery architecture. The historic defensive fortress against invading forces is now a monastic and administrative centre which houses the School for Buddhist Studies.
Upon arrival in Paro, we will continue our exploration:
Ta Dzong: The iconic 17th-century circular fortress, which was built as a watchtower, now serves as a premier museum exhibiting ancient armour, weapons, textiles, thangka paintings, religious artefacts, and other rich Bhutanese heritage.
Rinpung Dzong: The 16th-century “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels” is an iconic monument that houses the administrative headquarters of Paro and is decorated with red and gold accents, intricate Buddhist carvings, and prayer halls.

The most famous landmark of Bhutan, Tiger Nest Monastery, is perched dramatically on a cliffside at 3120 meters. The 8 KM hiking trails wind through the pine forest and lead us to the iconic monastery, believed to have been built on the spot where the divine Buddhist Tantric Guru Rinpoche meditated. Reaching the top opens a scenic view of the Himalayas on the horizon and the Paro valley at its foot.
Kyichu Lhakhang: The sacred 7th-century Buddhist site is one among the 108 temples constructed across the Himalayas to subdue demonesses and spread Buddhism. The temple holds profound importance and is considered a place of protection, peace, and blessings.
